Combining a decade of experience in graphic design and 8 years of experience in instructional design and learning experience design, my ambition is to provide “aha!” moments to learners of all backgrounds.
Like many, I had never heard of Instructional Design when I stumbled into this trade. My education was centered around public history (my passion: how do I tell these stories in a way that can impact lives?), my experience was in graphic design. So how did I find myself here?
I began as a graphic designer who could build training (“Stephanie, make my training prettier.”)
I became a Learning Experience Designer (“Can you build this module? Can it have a video too?")
I tacked on some experience migrating Learning Management Systems (“Stephanie, can you help us figure out how migrate 20,000 courses to a new system?”)
I found my through line in Instructional Design and every day I work to answer my original question: how do I tell these stories to people in a way that can impact their lives?
